Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Medical Imaging Techniques Program are expected to gain competence in safely using radiological imaging devices, preparing the patient for examination, complying with radiation safety principles, carrying out electronic record processes, participating in quality processes, and working in cooperation with the health team.

1. Knows the basic structure of the human body and the definitions, terms, locations, relationships, and functions of its organs and systems.
2. Has knowledge of health protection, system-related diseases, and first aid.
3. Knows radiation safety and radiation protection; protects oneself, patients, and society from radiation through protective measures.
4. Has knowledge of the structure and conditions of use of the devices used and acts by considering the physiological, physical, and chemical interactions in the formation of radiological images.
5. Prepares the medical imaging device and environment for radiological imaging; checks device calibration and contributes to the timely completion of maintenance and repair processes.
6. Prepares and informs the patient before radiological imaging.
7. Performs electronic recording of images.
8. Adjusts the parameters of imaging devices under physician supervision according to the patient.
9. Uses relevant devices and techniques for diagnosis and treatment processes in radiology units of health institutions by applying fundamental knowledge of medical imaging methods and physical principles.
10. Acts in accordance with social, scientific, cultural, and ethical values in the collection, interpretation, application, and announcement of results of field-related data.
11. Communicates effectively with colleagues, patients and their relatives, physicians, and other health workers.
12. Has knowledge of radiological anatomy related to radiological examinations to be performed in the field of medical imaging.
13. Uses information and communication technologies in field-related matters and conveys professional knowledge through written and oral communication.
14. Communicates at a basic level in a foreign language and uses it in professional practices.
15. Updates field-related knowledge, skills, and competencies with lifelong learning awareness and maintains personal and professional development.
16. Understands the basic professional legal regulations related to the field and acts in accordance with social, cultural, and legal rights and responsibilities.
17. Participates in quality management and processes.
18. Works in cooperation with other health disciplines.
