In the radiotherapy program; efficient and qualified Health Technicians are trained to work under the supervision of specialist in the field of radiotherapy, which is an important treatment method in cancer treatment. Health Technicians are the personnel responsible for applying ionizing beam therapy according to the directives of the radiotherapy specialist and the measurements and calculations of the health physicist and/or specialist. Health Technicians working in this field perform the following tasks: Opening the devices to be used during the day, making them ready to work by calibrating, applying ionizing beam therapy according to the directives of the radiotherapy specialist and the measurements and calculations of the radiation physicist (if not, the specialist), keeping the polyclinic and protocol books regularly, preparing medical statistics, the maintenance, preservation and proper operation of the devices, and notifying the chief or specialist of the malfunctions as soon as possible. Radiotherapy education is two years at the associate degree level. Theoretical courses are at the forefront in the first year, and practical training in the second year. Students do their practical training in the Oncology, Radiotherapy, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine units of Erciyes University Hospitals. Those completing the program receive the Associate Degree diploma and the title of Health Technician. Graduates can work in University, Public or Private Hospitals. If those who have completed the "Radiotherapy" program become successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by OSYM, they can benefit from the vertical transfer to the Nursing, Nursing and Health Services Undergraduate Programs.
