In the First and Emergency Aid program, health technicians who apply the emergency care professionally outside the hospital are trained. Health technicians working in this field have received theoretical and practical training in pre-hospital emergency care and are graduates of the First and Emergency Aid Technician Program of Health Services Vocational Schools, which is equivalent to the title of Paramedic abroad. Health Technicians perform the following tasks: administering intravenous access to the injured/patient, administering the accepted emergency medications and fluids until they reach the hospital, administering oxygen, monitoring, endotracheal intubation, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, stabilizing and preparing the patient for transport, applying the Basic Life Support Guidelines, stabilization of fractures, dislocations and sprains, wound closure and simple bleeding control, and assisting in emergency labor. Health Technicians get a driving license during the training and also undertake the driver of the ambulance in their working life. Those completing the program receive the undergraduate diploma and the title of "Health Technician". First and Emergency Aid Program education is two years at associate degree level. In addition to the theoretical and practical courses, the students practice in the Emergency Services of the University and Training and Research Hospital, the 112 Emergency Assistance Stations and the Command and Control Center communication unit. Graduates can work in the Ministry of Health 112 Emergency Assistance Stations and 112 Command and Control Center, and the Emergency Services of the University and State Hospital. If those who have completed the First and Emergency Aid Program become successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by OSYM, they can benefit from the vertical transfer to the Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services Undergraduate Programs.
