Audiometry

(About the Program)

In the audiometry program, Health Technicians who can detect hearing and hearing disorders are trained. Health Technicians working in this field are the personnel working with an otolaryngologist in health institutions and assist in making hearing and speech tests. Health Technicians perform the following tasks under the supervision of an otolaryngologist: If required, taking earmoulds in patients according to the test results, trying and ensuring the adaptation of hearing aids, performing free space scanning, taking part in the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment used in hearing and speech tests, performing newborn hearing screenings, carrying out all hearing tests in accordance with hearing measurement techniques, applying audiovestibular tests to the patients who come with the complaint of dizziness. Audiometry Program education is two years at associate degree level. During this period, students follow a two-year training program consisting of theoretical courses and practical applications to properly apply the audiometric tests used for hearing measurement and for a correct diagnosis. Those completing the program receive the Associate Degree diploma and the title of Health Technician. Graduates can work in the Audiology Clinics of Public or Private Hospitals under the supervision and control of the Audiology or Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases Specialist, in Schools for the Hearing-impaired and similar institutions, in Newborn Clinics, Schools and Hearing Aid Companies. If those who have completed the Audiometry Associate Degree Program become successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by OSYM, they can benefit from the vertical transfer to Physics, Hearing Impaired Teaching and Health Education Undergraduate Programs.
