In the Medical Laboratory Techniques program, Health Technicians are trained to work in the analytical laboratories of the health institutions. The Health Technician working in this field is the health personnel who performs the medical analyzes deemed necessary by the physician regarding the patient's condition in various laboratories in the health institutions. Health Technicians are responsible for the following tasks: Preparing the examination material brought to the laboratory for analysis, separating the urgent examinations and ensuring that they are done first, conserving the analysis material that needs to be preserved in accordance with the procedure, performing simple laboratory analyzes under the control of the laboratory chief and specialist, preparing standard solutions, culture media, dyes and anticoagulants according to their formulas, placing microorganism cultures required for experiments, analyses and tests, preparing samples from secretory fluids, cells, tissues and body organs, preparing solutions and culture media for analysis, performing the desired experiments, tests and analyzes by using laboratory equipments, recording and reporting the findings of observations, experiments, tests and analyses, cleaning, disinfecting, autoclaving the laboratory equipments, maintaining and preserving the materials and devices, keeping them ready for continuous use, taking samples at the patient bed for analysis. Medical Laboratory Techniques education is two years at the associate degree level. Students do practical training during the year and in summer together with theoretical and practical training on the operation of devices used in hospitals, laboratories and clinics, and making different analyzes. Those completing the program receive the Associate Degree diploma and the title of Health Technician. Graduates can work in University, State Hospitals, Family Health Units, Community Health Centers, Private Clinics and Analysis Laboratories. If those who have completed the "Medical Laboratory Techniques" program are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by OSYM, they can benefit from the vertical transfer to the Biology, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services Undergraduate Programs.
