Program learning outcomes targeted to be acquired after graduation

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Operating Room Services Program are expected to have the professional knowledge, technical skills, ethical responsibility, communication competence, and teamwork skills needed to work in the operating room environment.

  1. Has knowledge of the basic structure of the human body and the definitions, terms, locations, neighboring relations, and functioning of organs and systems.
  2. Has basic knowledge of health protection, system-related diseases, and first aid in emergencies.
  3. Ensures that periodic checks of instruments and devices used in the operating room are carried out.
  4. Checks the operating table before each operation, makes it ready, and prepares the necessary materials.
  5. Supports positioning the patient appropriately for surgery.
  6. Contributes to making surgical instruments, materials, and the environment ready for reuse after surgery by ensuring their disinfection.
  7. Ensures that surgical materials removed from the patient during surgery are sent appropriately to the relevant unit.
  8. Ensures the sterilization of surgical materials and their storage under appropriate conditions.
  9. Assists in taking the patient into the operating room and transporting the patient after surgery.
  10. Supports the surgical team during the surgical procedure in cases deemed appropriate by the physician.
  11. Uses technologies related to the field.
  12. Has sufficient awareness of individual and public health, occupational safety, and environmental protection.
  13. Uses information and communication technologies in matters related to the field; conveys professional knowledge in written and oral form.
  14. Communicates at a basic level in a foreign language and uses it in professional practices.
  15. Updates knowledge, skills, and competencies with an awareness of lifelong learning; sustains personal and professional development.
  16. Understands basic professional legal regulations related to the field; acts in accordance with social, cultural, and legal rights and responsibilities.
  17. Participates in quality management and processes.
  18. Works in cooperation with other health disciplines.
