Program learning outcomes targeted after graduation

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the First and Emergency Aid Program are expected to gain competence in emergency patient and injured-person assessment, basic and advanced life support, trauma stabilization, patient transport, communication, teamwork, and professional responsibility.

  1. Knows the basic structure of the human body and the definitions, terms, locations, relationships, and functions of its organs and systems.
  2. Has knowledge of health protection, system-related diseases, and first aid.
  3. Performs intravenous access and uses emergency drugs and fluids determined in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  4. Performs basic and advanced airway applications, oxygen applications, and endotracheal intubation.
  5. Assesses the patient or injured person, identifies the problem, prepares the patient for transport, and ensures transport with appropriate transport techniques.
  6. Applies trauma stabilization and stabilization procedures for fractures, dislocations, and sprains; performs wound closure and simple bleeding control.
  7. Performs ECG recording and rhythm assessment.
  8. Performs monitoring and defibrillation applications.
  9. Applies basic life support protocols and assists with delivery in emergency childbirth situations.
  10. Keeps the ambulance ready for use in terms of technical and medical tools, equipment, and supplies; performs driving duties in the ambulance when necessary.
  11. Uses the communication network accurately and quickly at all stages of duty; takes necessary measures for scene, vehicle, and driving safety.
  12. Has sufficient awareness of individual and public health, occupational safety, and environmental protection.
  13. Uses information and communication technologies related to the field and conveys professional knowledge in written and oral form.
  14. Communicates at a basic level in a foreign language and uses it in professional practices.
  15. Updates knowledge, skills, and competencies with lifelong learning awareness and maintains personal and professional development.
  16. Understands the basic professional legal regulations related to the field and acts in accordance with social, cultural, and legal rights and responsibilities.
  17. Participates in quality management and processes.
  18. Works in cooperation with other health disciplines.
