Adaptation Procedures

The steps to be followed and the points to be considered during the application process for students who will carry out course exemption and adaptation procedures are presented below.

Steps to Be Followed in Course Exemption and Adaptation Procedures

  1. Students who wish to carry out course exemption and adaptation procedures must first have the adaptation panel opened by the University General Student Affairs Center.
  2. Students must enter the courses for which they request exemption into the Student Information System (OBİSİS) through the course adding section of the adaptation module, together with the English names of the courses, and must submit the application for approval. Applications that are not submitted for approval cannot be evaluated.
  3. Students whose course exemption and adaptation application has been received must complete the procedure by submitting their documents — approved course contents and signed transcript — to the adaptation officer of the department to which they have applied and by informing the relevant officer.
  4. Students who have completed the course exemption and adaptation procedure must contact the academic advisor of the class in which they will continue their education in order to complete course registration procedures.

Points to Consider

  • Except for the common compulsory courses specified in subparagraph (ı) of the first paragraph of Article 5 of Law No. 2547, exemption procedures are not carried out for courses taken in a higher education diploma program from which the student has graduated. Procedures and Principles for Exemption and Adaptation Processes
  • Course exemption and adaptation applications are accepted only within the first 2 weeks at the beginning of the fall semester of the academic year in which the student first registers.
  • It is important for students to review the course contents and course information packages of the department in which they will study in order to select compatible courses for exemption.
  • Students cannot be exempted from courses they have failed. There is no need to enter these courses into the system.
  • The courses for which exemption is requested must both appear on the transcript and have corresponding course contents. It is the student's responsibility to enter this information into the system accurately and completely.
  • The course exemption and adaptation procedure is carried out only once, not separately for each semester, and covers all semesters in which the student will study. Therefore, when selecting the courses for which they request exemption through OBİSİS, students must consider all semesters of the department they will attend while adding courses.
  • The course registration of a student whose exemption and adaptation process has been completed is not considered finalized. After the adaptation procedure, students must complete course selection together with their academic advisor.
  • For students coming through Erasmus, Farabi, and Mevlana programs, it is sufficient to submit their Learning Agreement and transcripts.
